Adding Conditional Custom Fields

Jonathan Guir May 24, 2018 01:53PM PDT

I'm looking to be able to capture address field information for tribute acknowledgees if a donor indicates the gift is a tribute gift. Currently I'm using the Text custom field but I'd like to be able to keep my donation form as short as possible. Ideally, by having a donor just check off a custom field checkbox indicating the gift is a tribute gift and then prompting the required fields to populate in the form. Also, additional address field custom boxes would be helpful. Is this possible in any way currently?

Hi Jon

Thank you for reaching out!

At this time, that type of conditional logic is not available on our forms. You will want to add any additional fields to your form needed as it must be built for any possible outcome. My recommendation is to use a custom Text Box or Paragraph field type and ask that they enter all their options in this one field. An example of this would be for a guest list. Instead of individual fields for Guest 1, Guest 2, etc., create one field that asks for ALL guest names (comma separated). Not only does this reduce your field usage down to one field instead of ten, but you can also take the report from Mobilecause and use the Excel feature “Line Break” to break the names out into individual rows on your report if needed.

We’re always looking for ways to improve the platform and this is a feature high on our list. Look for our email updates announcing new features, this one may be on there sooner than you think.

All the best,
